Facts

J.K. lived at Oporto from 1991 to 1993 and she worked has a English teacher.
She married a portuguese guy and had a daughter. The marriaged did not work out....


This is what she saw. Lets make a comparation with the movies.

1 - Students dressed with the typical suits during the major events. Witches and warlocks???? look there goes hermione.

2 - The sorting hat cerimony and the houses. uhhhhh look the students agroup themselves by area and do a lot of fun things.

3 - Mythical beings. Do you remeber this cute guy???

Come to the square of the lions - Praça dos Leões - and you will find its cousins.

4 - Book Store at Diagon Alley

Ok the only thing that i see in common is the large amout of book and the confined space.

5- Gringots Bank

There are similarities to the buildings in Praça da Républica in a distorted way. But who knows... JK?

6- Salazar Slytherin.. Salazar was the portuguese ditactor. Coincidence???

He a kind of evil magic no??

So in conclusion Porto might have been a site for inspiration to the author who knows. It can be dark, hopeless but it also has a magic to it.


These are all suppositions.. Perhaps someday JK will talk about it...
