This guy represents all the portuguese people that are under some kind over rule. The small people ...  the average people. When there are someone trying to f#$% the portuguese people he raises his harm like the next picture in protest. Take this example related to the rating agency Moody's

We use it in several cartoons criticizing society like this.

FOURFTH SYMBOL - CORK

You now see cork souvenirs everywhere.... It used to be only the corkstopper we take out from the wine bottle and then you throw away. But did you know that Portugal has the largest area of cork forest in the world.. that's why is so important to us. 

But would you buy a cork stopper and take home as a souvenir ... of course no!! You now see every kind of object with cork...choose one ... but ask where it was made? Are you buying a souvenir from China or from Portugal? At least made in spain or Marrocco.

These are the main symbols of Portugal. In the country there are several in each region but in a future post i will talk only abou symbols of OPORTO.
